Russell Dominic Peters (born September 29, 1970) is a Canadian comedian and performer. He started performing in Toronto in 1989 and won a Gemini Award in 2008. He’s set records for sales and presence in a comic’s performance, in 2007 the very first comic to sell out Toronto’s Air Canada Center, in 2009 a sales record in London, in 2010 bringing the biggest audience in Australia to get a stand-up comedy show.

Peters started performing in Toronto in 1989. In 1992, Peters met comic George Carlin, among his biggest influences, who guided him to get on stage whenever and wherever possible. He explained he “took that advice to heart, and that I do believe that is the reason I ‘m where I’m now.” In 2007, 15 years after, he hosted one of Carlin’s last shows before his departure the next year. Based on Peters, those snippets made their way to all those given cultural groups, and were well received by them.
