Rachael Domenica Ray (born August 25, 1968) is an American television personality, businesswoman, star chef and writer. She hosts the syndicated daily conversation and lifestyle program “Rachael Ray”, and three Food Network show, (“30 Minute Meals”, “Rachael Ray’s Tasty Travels” and “$40 a Day”). Ray composed cookbooks based on the “30 Minute Meals” theory, and started a magazine, “Every Day with Rachael Ray”, in 2006. Ray’s television shows have won three Daytime Emmy Awards.
Ray educates straightforward recipes that she says could be finished in half an hour or less, although critics maintain that her theory will not contain groundwork. Ray says that her Sicilian maternal grandfather, Emmanuel Scuderi, and her Cajun roots function as a powerful influence on her cooking. She uses ingredients like fresh herbs, garlic and chicken stock to foster flavors. She considers that quantifying “takes from the creative, hands on procedure of cooking” and rather favors approximations for example “half a palmful.” To critics of her shortcut techniques, Ray replies, “I ‘ve no proper anything. I am totally unqualified for any job I Have ever had.” She admits that she cannot bake as it needs quantified fixings, that she cannot make java, and that she burns bread under the broiler. In 2007, The Oxford American College Dictionary declared the inclusion of the term EVOO, brief for extra virgin olive oil, which Ray had helped to popularize, and credited her with coining the phrase. The set of 30 Minute Meals uses a yellowish Version 61C Chambers stove in the 1950s, famous because of its top-opening broiler, super-insulated oven, and exceptional Thermowell. Mo Rocca, then among the guest judges for that episode and later host of My Grandma’s Ravioli, differed.
