David Eric “Dave” Grohl (created January 14, 1969) is an American rock guitarist, drummer, singer songwriter, and film director, who’s the lead vocalist, guitarist, primary songwriter and creator of the group Foo Fighters.

He’s in addition the drummer and cofounder of the rock supergroup Them Crooked Vultures. Grohl has also composed all the music and performed all the instruments for his short lived side projects Late! and Probot, in addition to being involved with Queens of the Stone Age numerous times through the previous decade.

Following Cobain’s death in April 1994, Grohl pulled away, uncertain of where to go and things to do with himself. In October 1994, Grohl scheduled studio time, again at Robert Lang’s Studio, and immediately recorded a fifteen-track demo. Together with the exception of one guitar part on “X Static” played by Greg Dulli of the Afghan Whigs, Grohl performed all of the instruments himself. In exactly the same time, Grohl wondered if his future may be in drumming for other groups. In November, Grohl took a short turn with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, including a performance on Saturday Night Live. Petty requested him to join forever, but Grohl declined.
