Benjamin Jeremy “Ben” Stein (born November 25, 1944) is an American actor, writer, attorney, and commentator on political and economical problems. He achieved early success as a speechwriter for American presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford. Afterwards, he entered the entertainment field and became an actor, comic, and Emmy Award-winning game show host.

Stein has often written comments on economic, political, and societal problems, as well as financial guidance to individual investors. He’s the son of economist and writer Herbert Stein, who worked in the White House under President Nixon. His sister, Rachel, can also be a writer. While, as a character actor, he’s recognized for his droning, monotone delivery, in real life he’s a public speaker on a broad array of financial and societal problems.
